Another festival is in the queue for celebration over here in India : Ram Navmi
It is celebration of birth of Lord Rama. This festival is celebration during spring. Lord Ram and his birth is very important to the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism.
Ram Navmi is observed during the Gujarati month called Chaitra. It is celebrated during chaitri navratri. The ninth day of bright half is celebrated as Ram Navmi. According to english calendar it is during March or April every year.
Lord Rama is believed to be the 7th avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Ram Navmi is not a major festival so no national holiday observed during this day.
On this day, people perform various rituals based on their beliefs. Some go to Temple for prays while some perform rituals at home. There are community get together. People offer Pooja and aarti on this day.
This festival is mostly observed in the North Indian states like Uttar Padesh, Bihar and even in Nepal.
Rathayatras, the Chariot procession is also taken out on this day at some places.
One can learn so many things from the life of Lord Rama. The art of performing ones duties as an obedient son, respectful brother, ideal husband and humble leader is all what he taught us.
Not to forget Lord Rama is at center on the religious book Ramayan. There so much to learn from this book. It is suggested that everyone should read Ramayan once in their life time.
