Healthy Bhakhri Pizza

Healthy Bhakhri Pizza

Hello folks,

Healthy eating and simple living is the secret to better life. This is very true but in today's world people get fade up with eating that simple food. People think that boiled food is for the old ones. Many of them may try healthy simple boiled food but skip it after seeing those yummy, hot, spicy and tasty street food.

Don't you think we should make food that is healthy and at the same time tempting. Though it is not going to help you as the boiled food but it is far more better than the street food you love.

With the thought in mind for the health version of a most tempting dish I tried my hands on Bhakhri Pizza. Yeah, it's healthy and tempting at the same time.

For the one's who don't know what is bhakhri? Let me brief it out. Bhakhri is a Indian flat bread made from wheat flour. It's almost thick like a think crust pizza base.

Now, without wasting much more time let's jump to over tempting recipe.

Healthy Bhakhri Pizza
Healthy Bhakhri Pizza

For making Bhakhri

2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp mixed herbs
Pinch of salt
Water as required

For topping

1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped capsicum
1 cup boiled corn
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp Chilli flakes
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 cup home made pizza sauce
1 cup cheese

Method:

For Bhakhri dough:

  • In a bowl, mix all the ingredients of bhakhri and knead into a dough. Dough needs to be hard than the one we prepare for pizza dough.
  • Keep the dough aside for 1 hr.
  • Now, take a small portion of dough and roll it to a flat bread.
  • On a slow flame, roast this flat bread. You need to press bit using a cloth to make it really good.
  • Once ready keep it a side.

For toppings:

  • In a pan, take olive oil and add the onion, capsicum and corn to it.
  • Cook it for 5mins, now add salt, Italian seasoning, Chilli flakes to it. Turn off the flame and let it cool down.
  • Next take our bhakhri, spread home made pizza sauce or ready made pizza sauce over it. Top it with the veggies mixes. Lastly, spread grated cheese over it.

When I opened my fridge, found a unused package of dry yeast. That's when a thought of making these delicious sweet braid buns came to ma mind.

Quickly wore my apron and collected the required ingredients and got started with ma dish.

Here goes my recipe of Sweet Braid Buns....

1 cup whole wheat flour
½ cup warm milk
½ cup water
1 tbsp dry yeast
1 tbsp sugar
½ cup chopped dry fruits
½ cup melted white chocolate
2 tbsp grated dry coconut
2 tbsp ghee
1 tbsp suger
Milk for brushing

Method

To prepare dough
In water, add dry yeast and sugar. Mix well untill sugar and yeast dissolves. Place a lid on the bowl and allow yeast to activate for 10mins.

In meantime, grab the all purpose flour and add whole wheat flour to it. Add warm milk to it. Now, take the activated yeast and add it to the flour. Knead it proper with light hands.

Cover the dough and place it aside for half hour. It will raise double from it's original size.

To prepare stuffing
Heat a pan, add ghee to it. Add dry fruits to it. Let it fry till golden brown. Add dry coconut and sugar next. Now off the stove. After 5mins add melted white chocolate to it. Mix well. Let it cool for some time.

Grab our dough and divide it into 6 equal parts. Roll it into a ball. Spread the ball to flat with hands. With help of knife make cuts for braid. Now place the stuffing in center. Place strips overlapping each other in form of braid.

Prepare all of them. Brush the braid with milk. Let's bake them for 10mins.

Few days back, it was my birthday and I thought of giving surprise treat to all my office colleges. After thinking for hours of what can be done I came to a conclusion: Chocolate Truffles.

Why chocolate truffles? Mainly due to two reasons. Firstly, chocolate is loved by all and over here in my city we don't find bakery selling Chocolate Truffles so definitely everyone was going to be amazed. Secondly, I had never tried these colorful treats so new experience and new recipe to be added to the list.

Here goes my Chocolate Truffles recipe...

2 cup All purpose flour
1 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp baking soda

1 cup water
1 cup Choco chips
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp cream
1 cup melted Dark Chocolate
1/2 cup melted white chocolate
Sparklers

Method

Mix the dry ingredients first. In another bowl, add butter, milk, vanilla extract and mix well. Mix the dry and wet ingredients together. Pour this batter to the tray and bake it just like the normal Chocolate cake base. Once ready, let it cool.

Now, crumble your base and add chocolate chips to it. Add cream to the crumble and mix well to dough. Make small bowls from it. Freeze the balls for 30mins.

Dip all the balls in the dark chocolate and freeze again. Once dark chocolate gets freeze using spoon pour some white chocolate over it. Sprinkle sparklers over it and refreeze it.

Happy Mother's Day: Celebration of Motherhood

Happy Mother's Day: Celebration of Motherhood

Happy mother's day
Happy Mother's Day

"Mother" or "Maa", when heard the only thing you can imagine is picture of your mother, her favorite words, her love, her care, sacrifices and what not.

Mother is that backbone of the family without whom no family can be complete. She the person who brought you to this  world and this is the most beautiful and biggest gift to you from her. She is the only person who will be staying with you from your birth to death no matter whatever take place.

Mother's Day is the celebration of Motherhood and influence of mother's love, care and sacrifice. Just a day of celebration for this special person is not enough. We should celebrate it everyday. Celebration for her is not always the material goods you gift her. You will never ever pay the cost of what she does for you and your family.

Material goods have the time limit instead creating sweet memories by means of loving, caring and understanding will remain for lifetime.

Some ways I would suggest to celebrate Mother's Day everyday are:

  • Wishing her good morning with a cup of tea or coffee with a big smile on your face. She will feel so much energized and happy. A day began happy will be spent happy.
  • Help her with the households. She will gain strength and not feel lonely.
  • At times, treat her in her favorite restaurant or even cook a dish she loves the most.
  • Spare some time to talk to her. Discuss your problems and future plans. Update her with what's going on around.
  • Hug her when she is upset.
  • Understand her in every situation.
  • Gift her something that she loved and wished to buy but due to some reason was not able to buy it.
  • Last but not the least, say "Thank You" to her everyday for small small things or for no reason.

I hope your mother will like this. Let me know, if you have some other ways to show your love and care to your mother which made her day.

Let's celebrate Mother's Day everyday...

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Hello Everyone!!

We are in the mid of April and all the environment lovers are waiting the day which is celebrated for environment protection.

Yes, you got me correct. Soon it will be 22nd April which globe celebrate as Earth day in the significance of environment protection.

Earth Day Anthem

There many songs that are being sung on Earth Day. But there is a very creative and inspiring song by an Indian that would bring world together. This is considered as an Earth Day Anthem. It is translated in 8 different languages.

Our cosmic oasis, cosmic blue pearl
the most beautiful planet in the universe
all the continents and the oceans of the world
united we stand as flora and fauna
united we stand as species of one earth
black, brown, white, different colours
we are humans, the earth is our home.

Our cosmic oasis, cosmic blue pearl
the most beautiful planet in the universe
all the people and the nations of the world
all for one and one for all
united we unfurl the blue marble flag
black, brown, white, different colours
we are humans, the earth is our home."

"Earth Anthem" by Abhay K

Also there is another song or anthem by William Walance which is played on this day.

"Joyful joyful we adore our Earth in all its wonderment
Simple gifts of nature that all join into a paradise
Now we must resolve to protect her
Show her our love throughout all time
With our gentle hand and touch
We make our home a newborn world
Now we must resolve to protect her
Show her our love throughout all time
With our gentle hand and touch
We make our home a newborn world"

Let us all joint together this April 22 for our mother Earth and celebrate this day for environmental protection. Let us all encourage everyone to protect our mother Earth.

Hello Everyone!!!

Another festival is in the queue for celebration over here in India : Ram Navmi

It is celebration of birth of Lord Rama. This festival is celebration during spring. Lord Ram and his birth is very important to the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism.

Ram Navmi is observed during the Gujarati month called Chaitra. It is celebrated during chaitri navratri. The ninth day of bright half is celebrated as Ram Navmi. According to english calendar it is during March or April every year.

Lord Rama is believed to be the 7th avatar of Lord Vishnu.

Ram Navmi is not a major festival so no national holiday observed during this day.

On this day, people perform various rituals based on their beliefs. Some go to Temple for prays while some perform rituals at home. There are community get together. People offer Pooja and aarti on this day.

This festival is mostly observed in the North Indian states like Uttar Padesh, Bihar and even in Nepal.

Gudi Padwa : Maharashtrian Festival

Gudi Padwa : Maharashtrian Festival

Gudi Padwa is one of the most celebrated festival in Maharashtra.

It is celebrated as the beginning of the traditional Hindu year and the festival day is the first day of the Chaitra month of the Hindu calendar.

The Marathi name for the festival is ‘Chaitra Shukla Pratipata’. Festival is celebrated to welcome the Hindu New Year.

In general, major Vedic festivals and cultural events mark the welcome ceremony of the March month as it is the spring which is closely associated with agriculture.

Considering as the significant traditional festival, Gudi Padwa is known by various names across the country such as Gudi Padva in Mrathi, Ugadi in Telugu and Yugadi in Kannada.

Just like there are reasons behind the occurrence of natural events, every cultural festival in India has a reason behind its celebration.

The entire celebration of Gudi Padwa revolves around three major reasons:
  • It is believed that Lord Brahma created the cosmic universe on this day. When the worship of Lord Brahma is complete, the Gudi is hoisted and Lord Vishny is invoked to shower his blessings upon the worshipper and his family.

  • LordRama, Hanuman- the incarnation of Lord Vishnu returned to Ayodhya after slaying the demon king Ravana and rescuing Sita. If we take a look at our history, Maharashtrian people observed this as a day of victory by their supreme and well loved ruler Shivaji Maharaj. The victory flag is hoisted to honour the courage and victory of this great ruler and the Gudi is decorated with the first bloom of fresh mango leaves. A silk cloth of yellow colour is draped across the Gudi and adorned with red flowers. The yellow and red colours are believed to be auspicious and symbols of fertility and well being. The area is also decorated around the Gudi. Special delicacies and sweet dishes are also prepared on this occasion.

  • Gudi Padwa marks another historical event, the victory of the Sakas over the Huns. But the most important significance of the Gudi Padwa is the creation of the universe by Lord Brahma. This has been mentioned in the Brahma Purana too, where the Satyayug commenced from this very day after the creation of the universe. The day is also considered auspicious because the divine consciousness which emanates during the early sunrise, if absorbed, lasts longer.
